BEING RELIGIOUS -- Being religious is not, in itself,
a virtue. The people who crucified the
Savior were among the most ‘religious’ peoples of all time, as were those who
destroyed the twin towers of World Trade Center in New York City in 2001. Being religiously exercised is not what saves
people, but rather the faithful adherence to the principles of Eternal Truth,
as defined in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and participation in its essential
ordinances. Hugh Nibley has noted that “True knowledge never shuts the door on
more knowledge, but zeal often does.”
